Shane McDonald is a Civil Litigation Attorney with Light Path Law, PA. Shane was raised in Wisconsin. He has been a licensed attorney in the State of Florida since 2008.
Shane attended Ave Maria School of Law while it was located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. While there he was a research assistant to Dean Bernard Dobranski. After three years of living in Ann Arbor, Shane moved to Southwest Florida in 2008 to be closer to his parents.
In 2009, Shane joined Ave Maria School of Law as a Reference Law Librarian, where he lectured for first year law students on numerous legal research topics, including state and federal legislative history research, federal regulations research, legal treatises and secondary sources, case law, and numerous other topics.
Shane then obtained extensive litigation experience while working for the State of Florida’s Office of Criminal Conflict. After working in numerous areas of coverage in the office, Shane rose to the position of Managing Attorney of the Fort Myers Division of the State of Florida’s Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel for the Second District. During his six years there, Shane represented hundreds of indigent clients. He represented clients with charges ranging from traffic violations to complex and serious first-degree felonies. Shane was assigned to numerous criminal divisions during his time with the Regional Counsel’s Office including misdemeanor, juvenile, felony, and post-conviction units. His managerial duties included training new entry-level attorneys in both the Criminal and Civil Divisions of the office.
He returned to Ave Maria School of Law as a guest lecturer on several occasions from 2015 to 2018 for an upper level course entitled Florida Criminal Law, where he gave lectures to upper-level students on topics such as pre-trial motion practice and criminal appellate practice.
Shane then left the State of Florida’s Regional Counsel’s Office and moved to private practice and further expand his litigation experience. Shane likes learning and helping clients during their time of need.
